Fall!
Autumn!
I think it's my favorite season.
Or maybe I just like a change in seasons.
"Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms."
Who said that? What movie?
I can relate. Except that I've never been to New York. And while I absolutely love new school supplies, newly sharpened pencils, new packs of paper, brand new notebooks and folders, a NEW box of crayons (Crayola ONLY)...

...while I LOVE all of that stuff, it can be pretty pricey to buy all of it for my kids every new school year. I mean, I have FIVE going to school this year! FIVE!!!
But, I do love that aisle at the store. I can spend forever looking at and wishing for new school supplies.
And as a kid, I always did love the first day of school. As a mom, it's a bit different. I'm excited for the return to routine, for the fresh start, but I'm dreading the homework and the harried days where we don't get everything done, for the lost homework and missing assignments...ahhh! Don't get me started.

Fall...
And the weather is usually still good too. Just starting to get cooler. I can wear jeans without sweating to death. Real shoes. I think I like the clothes better for the fall.
And my birthday is in the Fall.
Spring is another favorite of mine, but there's just one thing I don't like about spring. It's a total TEASE! You've gone through winter and are ready for warmth and spring will just tease you with an occasional warm day followed by SNOW. (repeat) You think it's warm enough for short sleeves and no jacket only to get stuck at the park freezing!
Yes, Spring is a Tease, though you can't help but love it.

I love crayons. That is my favorite school supply. A pretty box of colorful crayons, all lined up in color order with perfect tips. I also like Mr. Sketch smelly markers! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE FALL TOO! Although it's not anywhere near Fall here in SoCal. We've had the nicest summer but people keep saying "But we haven't gone through September yet". True.

ReplyDeleteWe had such a beautiful Fall in Teton Valley last year. It would be so great to have another one. But I'd like our summer to stay a little longer, since it's only been here since June.
The right actors, Erin, but the wrong movie. It's "You've Got Mail." One of my favorites. :)
